Team Dragonfly FAQs
Do I need a referral?
Yes. Please ask your midwife or Family Physician to complete our Referral form.
Are consults free?
Yes, our consults are free with your BC Care Card.
How does Team Dragonfly’s approach differ from a pelvic floor physiotherapist?
While our pelvic health credentials are the same as pelvic floor physiotherapists, our experiences, scope, and educational backgrounds are different. Midwives’ experience of attending births, knowledge of the perinatal period, ability to screen and treat infections, and access to consult specialists directly helps to streamline the pelvic health care we provide. Physiotherapists have extensive training in rehabilitation and provide a valuable and essential service before, during, and after the perinatal period, as well as pelvic health care unrelated to pregnancy and birth.
Can I see Team Dragonfly and a physiotherapist?
Yes, you can continue to see a physiotherapist while receiving care from Team Dragonfly, and your midwives may recommend seeing a physiotherapist for a variety of indications, including but not limited to care outside of pregnancy or the first six weeks postpartum.
Our commitment to accessibility
Team Dragonfly is committed to making our care as accessible as possible. All visits will take place in client homes. We have identified priority populations (including IBPOC clients, newcomers to Canada, those requiring translation services, Muslim clients, clients with multiple gestations, single parents, and other equity-deserving groups), but welcome referrals from anyone who would benefit from our care. We are happy to offer services in English, Urdu/Hindi and using translation services. We are dedicated to caring for those childbearing people who, until now, have been unable to access pelvic health care for financial or other reasons.
Team Dragonfly uses Embodia to securely send patient questionnaires, resources, and exercises. Before your first consultation, you will receive an email prompting you to make a free account. More information can be found here
